Autumn, Honesty and Jakira participated in Lucy's Poetry Slam!
CLUEsters utilized the brainstorming process. They worked in teams to brainstorm for different uses of rocks. Each team member employed a certain job: timekeeper, sound keeper, captain, and encourager. Students followed the brainstorming rules:
The more the better The wilder the better Piggyback and All ideas accepted Rocks are our most treasured natural resource. During our study on Petrology, CLUEsters used a structured format to create this writing activity. The letter “R” was selected to allow CLUEsters to illustrate how well they understood the secrets of Earth’s past and the impact it has had on our present day lives. We began this activity by brainstorming for words containing the letter “R” to create a powerhouse of ideas. CLUEsters’ creativity became evident as they dug into reference materials such as the dictionary and thesaurus to increase their fluency. Being flexible in their thinking, required them to search for numerous categories of words. Each CLUEster chose one important word - a concept they didn’t want to lose. This word would be saved for the last line of the poem. Originality erupted and became a reflection of their inventive minds. Finally, they completed the structured poem. CLUEsters have been studying the science and history of chocolate from the cacao bean to the candy bar. We are also reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. This M.E.S.S.
(Mind explosive super study) has been a sweet treat. Cluesters used the CLUE strategy of introspection. This is a continual process where students identify, express, and compare their ideas, opinions, and feelings. The students generated several ideas about what was “sweet” in their life. The students chose from the list and justified their selections. Finally, the students illustrated their opinion on a Hershey kiss. |
